We had the opportunity to talk with Photographer Jamie Cameron. Jamie is a great Photographer and has come up with this concept shoot. Sit back get some wine and spend sometime reading this great interview.
Where is home?
Portage Du Fort, Quebec, one hour West of Ottawa, Ontario.
If you could live anywhere on this awesome planet, where would you build your dream home?
Probably somewhere in the UK.
What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview?
It's good i hope, lol.
What sort of work do you specialize in?
Boudoir/Glamour.
Did you go to school to study photography?
Yes, I have a Photography Diploma, as well as I have attended several workshops.
How long have you been a photographer?
I started taking it seriously about 8 years ago. Then I started doing it full time 5 yrs ago.
How would you describe your style?
I'm very open in a variety of styles. Working with clients I shoot what they are looking for. But I believe my style has an unique look. I'm drawn to darker images, concepts, and styles and think this shoot shows in my work.
What type of cameras do you shoot with?
Canon products.
What is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?
I enjoy working with flashes and strobes.
If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
Tough question, maybe the Canon EF 70-200 F2.8L. I like to use a long lens for portraits sometimes and that is a nice piece of glass.
What lighting equipment do you take on a shoot?
Depends on the shoot. A lot of the times for an outdoor shoot I use the sunrise or set for a backlight and shoot a flash/strobe through a soft box.
Can you describe how and when you use flash, video light, reflectors and natural light during a shoot?
Depends on the natural lighting we are shooting in, whether it's inside or outdoors, and what look I am looking for in the final product.
What are your favorite computer/editing accessory, other than your computer?
Light room, and Photoshop.
How important is Photoshop in your final images?
Again, depending on the client. some are just basic touch ups. not much or any post process at all. And in some shoots, Photoshop is a huge part of the end product. I also do photo manipulations.
Are you a MAC or PC lover?
PC, maybe more virus's but a lot less break downs, That's my experience.
Do you plan on buying any new equipment and if so what do you have your eyes on?
A Canon Mark 4 would be nice, Switching to Sony would be great, but wouldn't be a cheap switch over.
Can you briefly describe for the readers your photographic workflow?
Concept talks about the shoot details with the client or model, do the shoot, run them through light room, and finish them in Photoshop.
What gives you ideas and inspires you to create such great imagery?
Clients and models sometimes approach with a concept idea, if not we talk about what would be best for them. Sometimes contest or submitting entries will lead me a direction for a concept.
What has been your most memorable assignment and why?
This shoot maybe my most memorable, The vibe between me and model was excellent, the location was perfect, and the headpiece is the first I've made.
Where would be your dream destination assignment?
Australia or Africa.
